Broome Dog

"He's my dog. No way would I have left him in Broome. We should've stayed there... not come to this stupid place."

Sam didn't want to leave his home in Broome, the old pearl-diving port on the north coast of Western Australia, but when his father was offered a new job in the far away town of Katherine, Sam had no choice. 

Sam doesn't like Katherine, and neither does his best friend Knuckles - a "Broome Dog" mixture of cattle dog and bull terrier commonly found in the north-west of Australia. As soon as the family arrives in the town of Katherine, Knuckles escapes and heads off back along the road to Broome... and into a long and dangerous journey.

Broome Dog was written after extensive travel and research by the author in the old pearling port of Broome and in the Kimberley region of north-west Australia.
