Early Learning Skills Book 3 Years 1-2: Blends (No. 168)

This book is the third in a series of three: Single Sounds, Three Letter Words and Blends.

Children should already have a firm grasp of:

• Single Sounds (the relationship between single sounds and letters); and
• Three Letter Words (the consonant, vowel, consonant relationship).

Blends is the progression into more difficult word groupings designed to extend children's reading and vocabulary by the joining of sounds to form words. The book contains various combinations of initial blends, final blends, middle blends and initial three letter blends. Each section is reviewed before commencing the new blend combination.

A single page is devoted to each blend where you will find activities such as: completing words, cloze passages, dictionary skills, rhyming family words, matching and joining pictures / words, completing sentences, unscrambling, drawing, identifying correct usage, multiple choice, picture clues and extending words.
