About the Authors:

Over the years, photographs taken by Graham Meadows have been featured in more than 200 educational books for children. A former veterinarian, he has written seven books on domestic animal species for a wider, more general audience. After 17 years in veterinary practice in England and New Zealand, Meadows decided to pursue his interest in wildlife and its conservation. He spearheaded the development of breeding programs at Auckland Zoo and established a breeding group of endangered species as part of an international conservation program. Meadows is the former writer and host of a children's television series about animals, and a past regional coordinator for the World Wildlife Fund.

An experienced zoologist, Claire Vial spent several years in Africa. While there, she conducted her own wildlife research, worked as a conservation volunteer and assisted in several other wildlife research projects. Since returning to New Zealand, Vial has led several wildlife / photographic safari tours to the African countries of Botswana, Namibia and Zimbabwe. She hopes that through her writing and photography, she is able to reach children and reveal the magic and beauty of some of the world's most stunning wildlife.
