Reading Comprehension Strategies Book 1

The object of the series is to help secondary students tackle comprehension examinations. Each book consists of 20 units. The first two are worked examples, teaching students the strategies on how to work out the right answer. The subsequent 18 units provide students with the opportunity to practise the strategies learnt. 

The comprehension passages are written in a variety of topics-nature, science and technology, language and literature, history, geography and culture, sports and entertainment- and in different genres to allow students to read widely.The wording of the rubic and questions in this series is closely modelled on that used in the past 'o' level papers, to familiarize students with what will be required of them in the final examination itself. A separate answer key is provided for teachers' reference. 

About the Author

Rosalind Fergusson, a former teacher, has spent 25 years compiling a wide range of language related reference books. She has contributed to Chambers School Spelling(2003), Cassell Dictionary of Idioms (1999), Macmillan Guide to English Grammar (1998), among others.
