The Formal

The stress, the mess, the dreams, schemes, shocks, frocks, dats, mates, mother, magical creatures and echoes of the bard: this crazy play is about the thrills and spills of one of life's rites of passage – the Formal. It's been staged hundreds of times since it first hit the spotlight and resonates deeply with audiences of all ages.

• full-length play in two acts and an aftermath
• large ensemble cast
• easy to stage

The script was first workshopped with and performed by the 2002 Year 11 Drama students at Mackeller Girls High School, Sydney. This new edition of The Formal celebrates twenty years since it was first published in 2004, leading to hundreds of productions across Australia, New Zealand and elsewhere.
