Understanding Poetry Analysis

Understanding Poetry has been created for students who need to strengthen the way they read, interpret and analyse poems in competitive entrance exams.

The activities in this book encourage careful reading, not just quick answering.

Poetry questions can be challenging because students must understand meaning that is often suggested rather than directly stated. Students need to pay close attention to the poem's language, tone, imagery, structure and overall message in order to choose the answer that best fits the text.

This book provides a range of poetry questions designed to build close reading, inference and analytical thinking skills. Through regular practice, students will learn to approach poetry questions with greater accuracy, confidence and control.
