About the Authors

Over the years, the photographs of Graham Meadows have featured in more than 150 educational books for children. A former veterinarian, he has written five books on domestic animals species. After seventeen years in veterinary practice in England and New Zealand, Meadows decided to pursue his interest in wildlife and its conservation, spearheading the development of breeding programs at the Auckland Zoo, in New Zealand, and establishing a breeding group of endangered species as part of an international conservation program. Meadows is a former writer and host of a children's television series about animals, and a past regional coordinator for the World Wildlife Fund.

An experienced zoologist, Claire Vial spent several years in Africa conducting her own wildlife research, working as a conservation volunteer, and assisting in several other wildlife research projects. Vial has led several other wildlife/photographic safari tours to the African countries of Botswana, Namibia, and Zimbabwe. She hopes that through her writing and photography, she is able to teach children and reveal the magic and beauty of some of the world's stunning wildlife.
